The grounds are located all around the church and mission.   Directly in front of the main buildings is the excavation site of the barracks that the US soldiers used.  To the right of that is an area called the "lavanderia", which is essentially the laundry room of the old mission (unfortunately, this area was unaccessible during our tour).  The barracks are filled with informative signs, such as this one.

 As we continue around the historical site, we are met with more signs and more images of what is now almost indistinguishable as military barracks. 

And so comes the end of our tour of the Mission San Luis Rey de Francia.  If we turn around from where these pictures were taken, our closing image of the tour is this diagonal shot of the glorious mission.
